Core Program (8.5 - 18 yrs)
The Core Program of The School at Peridance is a unique pre professional dance training program known for providing students with the necessary tools for a potential professional career in dance. The program is divided into age appropriate tiers of study, which enables students to progress according to their talent and ability. The aim of this program is to nurture well-rounded and versatile dancers who are proficient in all dance styles while developing their technique and artistry in a challenging and rewarding classroom environment .
This program trains young students at an accelerated pace, focusing on proper Ballet technique, strength, flexibility and body alignment. Additional attention is given to musicality, movement quality and anatomically correct work. Classes in the Core Program gradually increase in quantity throughout the levels and eventually include other techniques such as Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary, in addition to multiple Ballet classes a week. There are seven levels in the Core Program, with the last two levels being the Junior and Senior Youth Ensembles, which are student repertory companies that regularly perform throughout NYC (more info here). All students are required to audition every year, and acceptance into higher levels are contingent upon technical progress throughout the school year as well as the end-of-year audition.
Level & Placement Note:
