Justin Boccitto
Theater Tap
Biography:
Justin's students have included Lady Gaga, Tony Yazbeck (On The Town), Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal, Peter and the Starcatcher), Sophia Anne Caruso (NBC’s Sound of Music), Sean Fosse (Grandson of the late Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon), and Stanley Martin (Aladdin). He was also asked to teach Stephen Colbert how to tap dance and appeared as a coach on MTV's MADE. Justin served on faculty Broadway Dance Center, Marymount Manhattan College, Peridance and Circle in the Square, and on guest faculty at The Juilliard School, The Pulse, Broadway Donation, Steps on Broadway, and Broadway Artists Alliance. He has conducted master classes throughout the country and also adjudicated for Elite Dance Challenge. From 2012 to 2014 he served as artist in residence and professor of dance/theatre at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. Justin, along with colleague Sol Bloch, is co-founder of the non- profit company, New Generation Theatre in Rockland County, producing sophisticated musicals with area high school students while educating them in the craft of musical theatre.Class Description:
Justin designs his tap classes to meet the needs of all levels of dancers interested in furthering their technique, musicality and style. The class focuses on floor warm-ups, across- the-floor work, combinations and choreography including Theater Tap, Soft-Shoe, Rhythm Tap and more — all with a touch of Justin's style. Every student is recognized for their talents and receives as much individual attention as possible.
