Rachel List
Ballet
Biography:
Rachel List has been a member of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, The Vanaver Caravan, Partridge/Benford/Dance/Music, and The New York Baroque Dance Company, with whom she still performs. Rachel has taught professional ballet classes in NYC since 1978, and is frequently on the faculty of the renowned Bates Dance Festival. Ms. List has taught on the dance faculties of NYU/Tisch School of the Arts and Barnard College, and is currently the Director of the Dance Program at Hofstra University.Class Description:
The focus in this class will be on alignment, ease of movement, and musicality. Careful explanations of exercises and theory will help students to use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way. Exercises at the barre will prepare for more complicated rhythms and combinations in the center. Clarity of line and use of the upper body will be emphasized while dancers are encouraged to move fully.
