    Andrea Farley Shimota

    Contemporary Floorwork

    Biography:

Andrea Farley Shimota hails from Minnesota.  After majoring in dance and sociology at SUNY Purchase, Andrea went on to perform several roles in the production of Sleep No More.  In addition to her performance background Andrea is certified in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Pilates from Kinected, and Functional Nutrition.  She has studied anatomy under Irene Dowd and Eric Franklin and Meisner technique at Maggie Flanigan studio.

    Class Description:

Andrea’s class is open to all levels as she breaks down floorwork into accessible components. Her course will strengthen and clarify pathways for experienced dancers as well as introduce floorwork principles to those newly exploring. She strives to teach awareness of the body and its relationship to the floor through anatomically based exercises that help build strength and coordination.
