Bakary Fall
Sabar Dance
Biography:
Bakary Fall is a dancer, choreographer from Dakar, Senegal trained in traditional and contemporary West African, Capoeira, and urban dances. He teaches Sabar, Kutiro, Serer, and AfroPop to all ages. Bakary has studied under Germaine and Patrick Acogny, Joe Bou Sange, Idy Kante, and Papa Sangone Vieira. He has performed throughout Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Senegal, and the United States with Angelique Kidjo, Youssou N’dour and many other companies.
Class Description:
Sabar is a traditional dance performed to the Sabar drum of Senegal, West Africa. It is one of the African form based on moving on the upbeat tempo contrary to other downbeat African dance forms. In this energetic and fun dance class, you will learn the fundamentals of Sabar and progress to combinations that incorporates lots of hip twisting, jumping, arm swinging and high knee lifting.
