Afro Cuban
Biography:
Originally from Santiago De Cuba, Ms. Hechavarria received her early training as a dancer with Danys “La Mora” Perez Prades director of OyuOro Afro Cuban experimental ensemble in New York City and Sergio Hechavarria Gallardo director of Folklorico de Oriente, Cutumba.
Class Description:
This class is a combination of dance in this exciting range of traditional folkloric dances from Cuba with origins in West and Central Africa and even Haiti. You will learn Orisha dances form the Yoruba , Palo from Cong and Arará from Dahomey The class will also delve into Rumba and popular styles such as comparsa and merengue.
