    Aya Kaneko

    Ballet

    Biography:

    Aya Kaneko is originally from Japan, where she began her classic ballet training. She was awarded for the vocational examination syllabus certificate at The Royal Academy of Dance in London. She has worked with several classic ballet companies, projects and schools in Osaka and Kobe as a professional ballet dancer and teacher. She moved to NYC in 2006, had opportunity to perform for choreographers such as Milton Myers, Dwight Rhoden, Helen Pickett, Edgar Zendejas, Tim Rushton, Azure Barton, Tero Saarinen, to name a few. She participated in Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program in 2008and 2009, where she received full scholarship award and the Professional Advancement in Dance award. She is currently on the faculty at The Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program. Aya is the professional demonstrator and assistant of Milton Myers in classes and rehearsals; she is assisting him at The Ailey School, The Juilliard School, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, Implus Tanz Dance Festival (Vienna), Steps on Broadway, Peridance, and for company classes, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Dallas Black Dance Theater, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, and Philadanco. She is also on the faculty in Connecticut Ballet as a Horton teacher, and is certificated Pilates instructor.
