     Conteur Dance Company

    Conteur Dance Company

    Contemporary

    Biography:

Deriving its genesis from the French word meaning “storyteller”, Conteur is a newly formed Canadian professional dance company that incorporates modern contemporary movement to express ideas and commentaries on the human condition. Students of The Academy will have an opportunity to audition and become members of the Company, once the training program has been completed.

With annual performances, Conteur’s company will set the stage each season with a new production, crafted and created by Artistic Director, Eryn Waltman. Pushing the limits creatively, Conteur’s efforts to enlighten, inspire and entertain by exposing audiences to the beauty and intricacy of contemporary dance is the ultimate vision.

    Class Description:

A physically demanding contemporary class that requires a strong sense of technique and emphasizes alignment, agility and strength. The class incorporates Waltman’s floor work technique establishing a strong sense of harmony between the human body and the ground beneath it. The class builds on the understanding of weight distribution; transfer and threshold; and a connection beyond the surface of the floor. One is able to manipulate the force of gravity, ultimately creating unique shapes and illusions through space. The class will be an all- encompassing full mind and body experience.
