Bivi Kimura
Ballet
Biography:
Bivi Kimura has studied with Rosella Hightower, Rita Thalia, Jose Ferran, Philippe Cohen, Ian Nuyts, Victor Rona, Arlette Castanier, Claudie Winzer, Monet Robier, Joelle Mazet, Hans Brenaa, Christine Anthony, Colleen Neary, and David Howard. Her professional career includes being a faculty member of Logrea Dance Academy, Manhattan Youth Ballet, The Academy of Ballet Etudes, Guest Teacher of French Academie of Ballet, NJ Dance Theatre Ensemble, Ballet, and Grand Ballet de Geneve. She also has taught at Alvin Ailey School, Ballet Hispanico School and the school of Steps. She has danced with 20th Century Ballet, Maurice Bejart / Belgium and Switzerland, Jeunne Ballet de France / Paris and also as an invited guest in Japan and Europe. Her repertoire includes Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, Napoli, Sleeping Beauty, Mallarme III, and Allegro Brillante. She was a Finalist at the Prix de Lausanne and received a Silver & Bronze prize at the Tokyo Ballet Competition, Junior Division.Class Description:
Bivi's class is taken from the European schools. Her class approach is pure and precise, with emphasis on correct placement of the body, instruction on the mechanics necessary for movements, and the importance of utilizing musical phrasing. Bivi uses these basic elements to assist each student in developing a solid foundation upon which to build his/her ballet technique.
