With the growing need for arts education in public schools and communities, Peridance Capezio Center and its two not-for-profit dance companies, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company & Peridance Youth Ensemble, have become increasingly instrumental in providing these services. United by a strong vision for the future, Peridance offers life-long skills to children and youth in New York City, instilling a positive change within the individual and the community.
Who Are We:
For over a decade now Peridance has worked in collaboration with such notable organizations as
New York Cares, New Alternatives for Children, The American Red Cross, Free Arts for Abused Children, Greenwich House, New York AIDS Coalition, the Free Arts for Abused Children Project, Dancers Responding to AIDS and the Latino Commission on AIDS in New York City.
Peridance Capezio Center and The School at Peridance offers 9 different youth programs, both for the beginner and the pre-professional dancer, catering to over 800 children ages 2 to 18 years old. For over 30 years, Peridance Capezio Center has been recognized as a pioneer and core member of New York City's dance community providing dance education for anyone who wants to learn. Peridance features a progressive interdisciplinary approach to dance training, emphasizing a thorough understanding of various dance techniques, while promoting self-expression and creativity.
Peridance Youth Ensemble is a pre-professional training program for dancers ages 14 to 17 and a community outreach dance company. The Youth Ensemble is an outstanding group of talented and committed teenage dancers carefully selected to be part of this not-for-profit performance and outreach company. For the past 12 years the Youth Ensemble has been positively influencing hundreds of children from the NYC area by extending their knowledge and love for dance through performances and interactive workshops.
Founded by Artistic Director Igal Perry, Peridance Contemporary Dance Company has been a powerhouse of energetic and evocative dance since its inception. The Company explores innovative movement and design, while upholding the elegance and articulation of classical ballet. Hailing from Japan, USA, Columbia, and Spain, the ten company members are classically trained, versatile, and extremely expressive. In addition to being outstanding performers, these dancers are dedicated and inspiring Teaching Artists, setting an example of success in the arts.
Peridance caters to schools of any demographic and financial background and to all students, including students with physical or learning limitations.
