Horton Technique

BIOGRAPHY

Troy earned his BFA in Dance at University Of The Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Where he studied with Horton Luminaries Faye Snow and Milton Myers. Troy also had the honor of studying under Mr. Jimmy Truitt from The Lestor Horton Dance Theatre. He continued his Horton studies at The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center with Anne Mary Forsythe. Troy has taught the Horton Technique to dancers around the world for over 20 years. He has been on the faculty of Bridge For Dance, 5678 Dance, Bay Ridge Ballet as well as other studios and schools in the region. He is currently on faculty at Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls & Visions Dance Studio.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Troy's Adv-Beg Horton Class consists of 5 parts; Warm up (roll downs, flat backs, laterals), floor work (stretching and strengthening), across the floor (continued stretch and elongation of the muscles), center work (Horton studies and fortifications), and a combination (short choreographic work, using movement from the class).
This will be taught using descriptive language and fun insights. All lessons will be taught with a variety of music. This also includes music for Horton clases as taught and recorded by Ana Marie Forsythe. "
