BIOGRAPHY

Originally hailing from Houston, Texas, and having graduated from Texas A&M University with honors, Tony Guerrero has made New York City his base for fifteen years.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Tony Guerrero has made NYC his base for fourteen years. As a choreographer, Tony blends the sexy, exciting styles of today’s commercial and nightlife world with the sense of purpose, setting and motivation of theatre. Most recently, Tony created the hit new class “Burlesque Jazz Dance” at Broadway Dance Center.

With JT Horenstein, Tony co-choreographed the official premiere presentation of Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York” at the NY Knicks Opening Night Halftime Show at Madison Square Garden. They also co-choreographed the officially voted Fan Favorite number for the NY Knicks City Dancers at Madison Square Garden (“Blurred Lines,”) among other numbers during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons. Just this past Fall, Tony joined JT in co- choreographing and leading Team USA in Shanghai, China, in the TenCent “Just Dance” television presentation.

Tony’s additional stage/industrial and NYC nightlife choreography credits include Barter Theatre (Associate Choreographer,) Icons 3D at the Post Office Cabaret (Provincetown, MA,) New York’s Get Out Magazine Awards, Fashion Forward 2010 at New World Stages, Night of a Thousand Gowns at the Times Square Marriott Marquis, The Girly Show at New York’s Triad Theatre, and the 2014 Napa Auto Parts National Summit, featuring L.A.’s hottest dancers and a live band.

As a seasoned performer, Tony has spent ten years on roster for the NY Metropolitan Opera as a dancer, actor, fighter and stunt performer. Most recently, he performed as a featured actor/dancer in the critically acclaimed Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, as well as the lead dancer in the new Gala production of David McVicar’s Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci.

Tony toured nationally as the Latin feature in the Broadway production of Saturday Night Fever (plus the original Las Vegas company,) and completed three world tours of West Side Story (Bernardo.) Tony’s worked under such theatre staples as Arlene Phillips, Rob Ashford and Joey McKneely.

Other theatre credits: Rock Stars NYC (Off-Broadway,) Man of La Mancha, Guys and Dolls, Urban Cowboy, Evita, Tommy, La Cage… and Copacabana. Recording artist performances include Pitbull, The Lonely Island (feat. Nicki Minaj,) Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Lisa. Favorite TV/Film: “Orange is the New Black” (Ahmed,) “SNL,” The Wolf of Wall Street, “The Carrie Diaries,” “Person of Interest” and HBO’s The Normal Heart. Tony’s been directed by the likes of Ryan Murphy, Amy Heckerling, Jodi Foster and Martin Scorcese.
