BIOGRAPHY
Soraya Lundy is a proud New Yorker and native of Queens whose work as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher has taken her across the world and onto the stage with some of the biggest names in pop, hip-hop/R&B, and reggaeton.
As a dancer, Soraya has danced in videos or onstage for international icons like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira, as well as stars like Missy Elliott, Daddy Yankee, and Drake, and corporate clients like Nike and Reebok. As a choreographer, she has arranged stage performances for artists including Rihanna, Cardi B, Sean Paul, and most recent tours for PitBull, Khalid and Drake. She also choreographed for major corporations like Smirnoff, Pepsi, Nike, and Adidas. Her work as a teacher has included stints leading workshops in Russia, Chile, and Japan, a gig as instructor for the Music Choice on Demand show Do Dat Dance, and a resident teaching job at the Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory. She is currently an instructor at Japanese owned EXPG-ny.
Soraya graduated from the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, went on to perfect her ballet and modern dance technique at the Alvin Ailey School and the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance, and honed her hip-hop dance skills at BLADE Academy of the Arts. She has competed internationally in numerous dance battles, including the 2010 MC Hip- Hop Battle in Italy, where she represented the United States and brought home the first-place trophy.
Although she has traveled extensively and worked with many pop and dance superstars, Soraya says that first and foremost she is passionate about inspiring others who love to dance—not just as a hobby or pastime, but as a career. As a member of Sharaya J’s BanjiBabez crew, Soraya is excited to spread the BANJI spirit: Be Authentic and Never Jeopardize Individuality!
