BIOGRAPHY

Preston Mui is a movement artist, choreographer, and educator whose teaching lives at the intersection of commercial performance and storytelling. Rooted in hip hop, jazz, and street dance, his movement language blends technical foundations with contemporary physicality, musicality, and emotional authenticity. In class, he emphasizes performance quality, adaptability, and helping dancers develop their confidence through finding their distinct artistic voice.

Preston began his career in the commercial dance world, spending over 20 years in Hollywood performing with artists including Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga, and appearing in music videos, award shows, television programs, and national commercials. He later transitioned to theatrical storytelling and became the longest-running cast member to portray George Eacker in the Broadway company of Hamilton. His diverse performance background informs a teaching style that prepares dancers for both stage and screen.

He is the founder of The Dynasties, a dance collective uplifting Asian diasporic stories, and brings a strong commitment to AANHPI representation, cultural awareness, and collaborative process into the studio. A 2024 resident artist at Peridance Center and recipient of a Warner Bros. Discovery DEI grant, Preston is passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists to be not only skilled performers, but thoughtful, empowered storytellers.
