BIOGRAPHY
Núria is a professional dancer, choreographer and dance educator originally from Barcelona, Spain. At the age of 4, she began her training in multiple disciplines and has been on stage. At the age of 17 Nuria was accepted to the prestigious Conservatory of Barcelona (Institut del Teatre) and is a graduate with a Contemporary Dance Degree. In 2013 she received a full scholarship ($21.760) for the Certificate Program at Peridance Center (New York) where she obtained an Excellence with Honors certificate in Contemporary Dance. During her education she has performed works by Stijn Cellis, Robert Battle and Lali Ayguadé among others. Núria furthered her training attending numerous workshops with Mathilde Von Meerendonk (Ohad Naharin choreography), Igal Perry and Eva López Crevillén (Nacho Duato choreography). At the early age of 14 she joined La Companyia, where she trained and performed the grands ballets (Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia) choreographed by Rodolfo Castellanos (principal dancer at Ballet Nacional Cuba) and directed by Elise Lummis. Núria has trained next to Malin Andreasson (Metropolitan Opera), Eila Valls (Ballet Hispánico) and Sonia Vinograd (SemperOper Dresden).
Núria has been privilege to work on stage, television and commercials. Nuria was a featured dancer for Toys “R” us Children’s Fund Gala 2016 where she performed with the Emmy award-winning Martin Short (SNL, How I met your mother and Father of the Bride). She has performed Emocions en moviment directed by award winning Toni Mira (2006 National Prize of Dance, 2009 Barcelona City´s award and 2010 Catalunya National Prize of Dance) at the famous UNESCO World Heritage Monument La Pedrera (Antoni Gaudí) for its hundredth anniversary memorial. She has been featured in Bugaboo international b.v. commercial choreographed by the highly respected Oscar Reyes (Fame the musical, Rent the musical and Cia. Metros/Ramon Oller) performed in Bilbao. In 2013 the Television of Catalunya hired her for the summer advertisement Aquest estiu m’agrades molt with the Enderrock award winning music band Els Catarres. The world renowned Chilean singer Nano Stern (New York Times “The appearance of Mr. Stern lent the concert its only moment of genuine excitement”) featured Núria in the music video Chant for Peace. In 2015 Núria was asked to perform Crisálida (Battery Dance Festival, Dixon Place and Gelsey Kirkland Theater) with De Funes Dance directed by the highly respected Diego Funes (Metropolitan Opera, Cats the Musical and Radio City Musical Christmas Spectacular). She is also part of Michiyaya Dance (CPR-Center for Performance Resarch, ReverbDance Festival and Brooklyn Museum´s Target First Saturdays) and has been featured as a guest artist for Suku Dance Lab (WaxWorks), Abarukas Dance (Jamaica PerformingArts Center) and BalaSole Dance Company (Ailey Citigroup Theater).
In 2013 Núria won first prize in the III Edition of the Certamen Internacional de la Ciutat de Barcelona. This award earned her a full scholarship ($21.760) at the world- renowned Peridance Center in New York City. Since 2000, Núria has received numerous awards from the Royal Academy of Dance such as the Advanced Major award. With Michiyaya Dance Company, she received director’s choice award from the Winter Follies Dance Festival.
Nuria is also an accomplished choreographer and teacher. Núria was selected to present To Approach at the highly respected Agitart Dance Festival (first edition) and El cant dels Ocells at the well renowned Mixtus BalaSole’s 2016 Season Concert at the Ailey Citgroup Theater and the very selective Student Showcase at the KnJ Theater. She has also presented Day, night and everything in collaboration with the Hector Zaraspe Choreography award winning Elisabeth Motley at Show Down (Gibney Dance). Ms. Martin has taught for the well renowned Diego Funes at Peridance Center and taught ballet, contemporary and creative movement at AccenTennis (Catalan sports federation) under the direction of Ignasi Ferrer i Condomines. Ms. Martin is aslo a member of APdC (Professional Dancer’s Association of Catalunya) and Danza.es.
Núria is beyond excited to continue growing and mastering her craft as a working dance artist in New York City.
