BIOGRAPHY
Evelyn Chen (she/her) is a dancer, actor, and director based in NYC. She studied dance and arts management at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory and is a certified Ilan Lev Method practitioner. Evelyn performed in and was an Associate Resident Director of Punchdrunk’s acclaimed Off-Broadway immersive production Sleep No More. Performance and collaborative credits include works by Bill T. Jones, Lar Lubovitch, Doug Varone, Rubberband Danse, Opera Cowgirls, Pig Iron Theatre Company, LeeSaar, and more. In 2021, she originated the role of Silas in Hotel Wonderland in Amsterdam, and in 2025 was an actor and movement captain in Metamorphoses [Berkshire Theatre Group].
Additional training includes Springboard Danse Montreal, Dance Education Lab, Western Australia Academy of the Performing Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts, and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Drawing from tools central to Evelyn’s training and creative process, class blends coordination, crawling patterns, brain games, and strength work into a playful but intentional movement practice to challenge the nervous system and expand movement possibilities.
Expect a session that feels athletic and engaging — equal parts conditioning, coordination training, and embodied play.
Socks and kneepads optional. Open to all movers, but an interest in failure is recommended!
