BIOGRAPHY
Edson Maldonado, born of Afro-Latin heritage, was raised in Paterson, New Jersey. Starting off as a self-taught dancer during his younger adolescence, he eventually found himself auditioning for and ultimately go on to become an artistic director of New Jersey's, Project D Dance Company. Contributing his creative and artistic vision to many performances, receiving some of the highest regards at many competitions along the East Coast. After pivoting from the competition circuit, Edson began shifting his focus into teaching and creating more art as a working professional dancer. Today, Edson fosters an environment of growth, risk taking and being present in the gratitude for it all. He strives to share these lessons with all who choose to receive them. CLASS DESCRIPTION
In Edson’s classes he lays the foundations for understanding movement through recognizing the fundamental building blocks of hip hop culture. Setting an environment for growth by prioritizing giving oneself grace, leading with gratitude and understanding what it means to “show up” for yourself. He aims to promote positivity, perseverance and overall great movement quality.
