BIOGRAPHY
Claudia-Lynn Rightmire is a multidisciplinary artist, creating within mediums of dance, writing, theater, and visual art. Claudia-Lynn holds an Honors summa cum laude BA from Roger Williams University, is a certified health coach, and is currently teaching at Peridance and Gibney Dance in NYC. Claudia is an artist with Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre, David Dorfman Dance, and INSPIRIT Dance with Christal Brown, and has worked with Andrew Schneider, NYC Children’s Theater, Third Rail Projects, Kinesis Project, Sarasota Contemporary, Moving Ethos, and others. She has been a guest artist and educator at many institutions, nationally and internationally. In 2021, Claudia formed cs movement projects, a performance art company, alongside her partner, Simon Thomas-Train. Claudia is driven by storytelling, voice, shadow, and being a parent.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Contemporary Forms -
In this class, we will move. Playing with the awareness and acknowledgment of our worlds within and the worlds surrounding, we will challenge ourselves to glide between the two. With spaciousness from the bottoms of our feet to the tops of our heads, we will release, fall, and suspend within these worlds, knowing our bodies are there to catch us. We will use sensation, imagery, instinct, and a bit of humor within set patterns and free forms. Phrase material within class will be rhythmic in nature and move in and out of the floor. We will play, take up space, sweat, and take care of ourselves within our ever-changing landscapes. This class will be contact-free, but we will be all together, now. Come with what you have; leave with a bit more.
