BIOGRAPHY

Alan Danielson was a choreographer, teacher, and musician who created and taught contemporary dance in the Humphrey/Limón tradition. Starting in 1991, he had been the school director of the José Limón Institute in New York City. He was an internationally acclaimed master teacher of music and dance, and was on faculty at New York University and the Alvin Ailey School. His company - Dance by Alan Danielson - performed throughout North and South America, and Europe. His works were commissioned by many professional and student dance companies. As a professional musician before he began dancing, he worked as a composer, conductor, and dance accompanist. He also taught music for dancers, dance accompaniment, and teaching methodology.
