Royce Zackery is an artist, choreographer, and educator whose work advances embodied practice-as-research at the intersection of classical rigor and contemporary inquiry. A tenured Associate Professor at Howard University, Zackery served more than 12 years as Coordinator and Artistic Director of the Dance Arts B.F.A. Program, shaping conservatory-level training inside a Research 1 environment through curriculum innovation, mentorship, and artistic leadership.

Mr. Zackery’s interdisciplinary practice investigates how embodied intelligence informed by biomechanics, somatic systems, cultural narrative, pedagogy, and performance health can be mobilized to cultivate sustainable virtuosity, artistic agency, and longevity for dancers navigating today’s evolving professional ecosystem. His teaching includes and integrates classical ballet, contemporary ballet, and partnering with artist-centered frameworks that support both creative risk and physical sustainability.
