Class Description

A basic understanding of ballet fundamentals is necessary for a the full benefit of this class.
Each student will be corrected appropriate to their level. The contains a brief warm up specific to the elements of the class.

PIROUETTE (TURNS) June 20, 27 & July 11

This portion of the class is dedicated to the proper mechanics that are the foundation of all rotating movement regardless of dance style. It will address the tools of alignment, coordination, and musicality that will simplify and improve all forms of turns with one on one attention, diagnosis, and corrections. Once this foundation is in place the dancer has the tools to resolve the problems that may stand in the way to more consistent and successful pirouettes.

ALLEGRO (JUMPS) July 18, 25 & Aug 1

This portion of the class is designed to set in place a proper foundation for safe and effective jumps. In this area, musicality and proper accenting will act to maximize the height and timing of all jumps in one on one setting that will address common misconceptions in this area of technique. In addition to exposing the dancer to a greater variety of jumps, there will be special attention to the use of their plié, not only to increase height and speed but for their safety in the prevention of injury.
