Peridance Extracurricular Activities 2024-2025 Fall/Winter

Explore the vibrant world of dance through our enriching extracurricular and field trip offerings at the School at Peridance! Our diverse program is carefully curated to be inclusive and inviting to all students, regardless of the dance styles they are studying. These experiences are not just about watching and observing; they are about deepening your understanding, widening your perspective, and connecting with the dance community both within and outside Peridance.

 

Please note that participating in these extracurricular activities will involve additional costs. To make these experiences as accessible and enjoyable as possible, we warmly encourage parent involvement. Volunteering as a chaperone is a wonderful way to engage with our community, and as a token of our appreciation, parent volunteers will receive free access to the events. 

PERFORMANCE VISITS

Step outside the classroom and into some of New York City’s most prestigious performing arts venues. You'll have the chance to watch breathtaking performances across a multitude of dance styles, showcasing the dynamic range of the dance world and offering a glimpse into professional productions. There are limited tickets available to each outing. Please sign up ASAP to reserve your spot!

 

“Coppelia” with New York City Ballet
  • Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 2pm 

  • A classic tale told by NYC’s beloved ballet company

“What the Day Owes to the Night” by Compagnie HERVE KOUBI
  • ​Sunday, February 2, 2024 at 2pm

  • A blend of capoeira, martial arts, and contemporary dance by a French-Algerian choreographer

  • Cost: $50 ​

BEHIND-THE-SCENES ACCESS

Gain exclusive access to observe rehearsals of Peridance Contemporary Dance Company. This unique opportunity allows you to see professional dancers and choreographers in action, offering insight into the preparation and dedication involved in bringing dance performances to life.

  • Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience as we invite the children of the School at Peridance to watch a live rehearsal of Peridance Contemporary Dance Company. This unique event offers a rare glimpse into the professional world of dance, showcasing the dedication, skill, and artistry that goes into preparing a performance. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young dancers to be inspired, learn about the rehearsal process, and see their role models in action. 

DANCE MOVIE NIGHTS

Join us at Peridance Center for our dance movie nights, where we screen films and documentaries that celebrate dance. These events are a perfect way to relax and enjoy cinematic expressions of dance, learn about different cultures and dance histories, and bond with fellow students over shared passions.

 

Back to School Movie Day!
  • Sunday, September 8th from 2:30-4:30pm (ages 4-8), 4:45-6:45pm (ages 9-14) 

  • This event is FREE. Join us for snacks and a dance movie with our teachers and new dance friends!

 

Halloween Movie Night (ages 13+)
  • Friday, October 11th 7-9pm

  • Gather your friends and join us for a spooktacular Halloween Movie Night at Peridance! This festive event is the perfect way to kick back and enjoy some chills and thrills with your fellow dancers. We'll be screening a classic Halloween movie, complete with snacks to munch on while you watch. Cost $15

WORKSHOPS & GATHERINGS WITH THE PERIDANCE PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES

At the School at Peridance, our students have the unique opportunity to participate in exclusive workshops conducted by the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, Peridance Ensemble, MOPTOP, and Peridance Certificate Program. These workshops not only provide a glimpse into the professional world of dance but also demonstrate the potential pathways their hard work and dedication in class can lead to. Students will be able to observe and learn firsthand from accomplished dancers and choreographers, gaining insights into the creative process and the rigor of professional dance practice. This integrated approach helps bridge the gap between student life and professional achievement, highlighting the tangible outcomes of their training and dedication.

 

Please be aware that participating in these workshops will involve additional costs. Detailed information regarding any fees will be provided well in advance of each workshop, allowing families to plan accordingly.

Concerts 2024-2025

Show & Tell

November 11-16, 2024

Every semester, the School at Peridance will present Show and Tell events in the studio to bring together classes to present what they are learning both to each other and to their families. These mini performances are separate from Parent Observation weeks and offer families and students a chance to see what their fellow dancers are working on in classes.

Winter Concerts

January 24-26, 2025

Winter performance opportunities will include a Winter Production for the School at Peridance and an opportunity by audition only to participate in Peridance Contemporary Dance Company's winter season.

Spring Concerts

Creative Concert
May 16-18, 2025

Annual Concert
May 30-June 1, 2025
