New York City's Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, founded by Artistic Director Igal Perry, has been a powerhouse of energetic and evocative dance since 1984. Operating from its home at the renowned Peridance Capezio Center at Union Square, the Company presents an annual New York Season at the Salvatore Capezio Theater as well as guest performances in venues such as the Joyce Theater, BAM, and Lincoln Center. In addition to Perry's signature works, described by the NY Times as "blessedly inventive," the Company has commissioned and performed works by many notable choreographers including Ohad Naharin and Dwight Rhoden.The Company cultivates many choreographic and compositional collaborations to augment its signature works by Perry, who is passionate about presenting works with live music and original compositions.

In the past five years alone, PCDC's domestic and international tours have brought contemporary dance to over 48,000 audience members around the globe in festivals and venues such as Ballet Internacional de Buenos Aires, Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out, Big Arts Florida, Spring to Dance St. Louis, Florence Dance Festival, Tel Aviv Dance, Seoul International Dance Festival, and many more. The Company's "Dance-Break" outreach program provides hundreds of Tri-State K-12 children an array of creative dance workshops, often in underserved schools.PCDC continuously offers free classes and outdoor performances to thousands of people through organizations such as CitiParks' SummerStage, Broadway Cares, and the Latino Commission on AIDS.

PCDC has been generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Capezio Dance Foundation, Harkness Foundation, Google, the Jewish Communal Fund, and many individual donors.

Company Home

Located in the beautiful Union Square area in the heart of New York City, Peridance Capezio Center and its Salvatore Capezio Theater are the home of Peridance Contemporary Dance Company. The unique arrangement of the Company situated within a school creates a harmonious blend of professionals and students, bringing artists from all walks of life together into a lively micro-community, and inspiring young dancers to reach great heights in their art.

For over 30 years, Peridance has provided inspiration for the educator, enjoyment for the recreational dancer, development for the professional, and fertile ground for future Company dancers. Peridance Capezio Center offers over 250 weekly open adult classes taught by an exceptional faculty, multiple International Student Programs with students from over 30 countries, and a two-year Certificate Program designed for pre-professional dancers. It is also home to The School at Peridance with over 100 weekly classes for children ages 18 months to 18 years, and the Peridance Youth Ensemble, a non-profit performance and outreach troupe.

The Company aspires to advance the performing arts by offering the public visionary choreography and strongly executed performances, nationally and internationally, and by fostering an intelligent appreciation of dance as an art form. The Company works to provide a creative and intellectually stimulating outlet for high-caliber dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, and designers. Peridance Contemporary Dance Company is dedicated to providing an array of educational opportunities for pre-professional, aspiring students including those in at-risk communities and schools.
