    Biography:

    As founding artistic director of Organic Magnetics, Maija directs and produces works in collaboration with movement artists, live musicians, and designers. She choreographs for stage, film and music videos; most recent works include Move On Up: Angelique Kidjo and Rise: Seun Kuti and Egypt 80. Since 2006 Garcia worked alongside Bill T. Jones as Associate Choreographer of FELA! in creation of the award winning international hit musical from broadway to Royal National Theater of London- most recently staged in Lagos Nigeria. She toured internationally with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company for five years. Maija teaches movement for the stage at NYU, is a guest artist at DNA and teaches Contemporary workshops at Peridance in NYC.

    Maija Garcia teaches classes and facilitates workshops worldwide, sharing a contemporary movement style inspired by Afro-Latin rhythms and infused with yoga, martial arts, and theater dynamics.
