    Amanda Miller

    Ballet

    Biography:

Amanda Miller is Artistic Director of Miller Rothlein since 2004. As a dancer she performed with the Hartford Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera Company, performing and premiering works by George Balanchine, Jorma Elo, and Mark Morris, among many others. Miller has studied the choreographic and improvisational techniques of Alonzo King, William Forsythe, and Siobhan Davies. Her works have been presented nationally and internationally in venues ranging from London, England’s Royal Opera House and NYC’s Whitney Museum of American Art, to the Streets of South Philadelphia, with commissions by The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. Miller is a 2009 Independence Foundation Fellow in the Arts, was a finalist for the 2007 Pew Fellowship in Choreography, and has been awarded the Dance Advance grant, a program of the Pew Charitable Trusts, in 2004, 2005, and 2010. From 2004-2006 Miller was a resident of the Choreographer’s Project at Susan Hess Modern Dance. She is currently a member of the International Dance Council(CID)-UNESCO and served on the Board of Governors for the American Guild of Musical Artists.

"...I found Amanda is one of the best of best as her class is focused on important basic detail like how to weigh and use muscle properly on each technique, so essential for not only beginners but experienced dancers..."
