    Biography:

    Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Victoria Vargas has more than 40 years of experience as a professional dancer. She is a former faculty member of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and a former founding member of the Luna Negra Dance Theater in Chicago. Former teacher at the Hong kong Academy Performing of Arts As a right now she does work for Ballet Hispanico in NYC as a Faculty and program coordinator.

    She has been a guest teacher in numerous national and international ballet schools over the years. Most recently, she was teaching at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and Had her own school Viva Ballet school, prior to her current position at Ballet Hispanico as a Program Coordinator.

    She is a dedicated individual in training teachers in the discipline of teaching Ballet through kinesiology utilizing the 40 years of experience as a professional dancer. Her dedication has led her to create The 5th Position Method, a widely recognized floor barre concept among professional ballet dancers and the young and emerging generation. The 5th Position Method is an awakening to one’s body awareness using the neurological codes present in the human body to be able to execute movements in a coordinated and effortless way. In Asia, this method has been approved as a registered injury prevention and recovery therapy.

    As a professional ballet instructor, she provides high levels of dance and fitness practices. She always maintains a caring and safe learning environment for her students, nurturing them to reach their full potential while fostering a healthy attitude towards all elements of dance practice. In the words of Ms. Vargas herself, “teaching is the greatest personal reward.” She feels immensely privileged to have taught established companies as well as young aspiring dancers internationally from the Americas, to Europe and the Far East.

    As a result, the students of Ms. Vargas have managed some many extraordinary achievements and success. A good number of them are now in world renowned institutions such as the Royal Ballet, Vaganova Academy, Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Academia Nazionale Di Roma. American Ballet Theater and the San Francisco Ballet School.

    Victoria has received numerous recognitions in recent years for her work. In 2019, she was invited to be a Ballet Master for China’s annual Famous Teacher Award. Following that, she was presented the “Outstanding Teacher” award by the Hong Kong Ballet Group in 2020. This year, she was awarded the “Distinctive Teacher” award by the Hong Kong Ballet group. Concurrently, she has been nominated for 4 awards. She has earned the Group exercise leader of the year and the 5th Position Method earned a National award of rehab and injury prevention method

    (Specialized Gym/ Studio of the Year; Trailblazer of the Year; Inspiring Community Campaign of the Year – The Vanguard Category is an honorary award that recognizes individuals and teams that has made an impact in the community and is at the forefront of change ) by Fitness Best Asia making 2021 one of the best years in terms of collective achievements for her.


    Class Description:



    Stretching and strengthening muscle groups with ballet and gymnastic exercises. This class will improve your flexibility, increase strength and reduce stress. The class is an excellent introduction to understand Body suspension and Body Balance.
