    Assaf Salhov

    Functional Dance

    Biography:

    Assaf Salhov is a choreographer, dancer, and performer working actively in New York City. He began his professional career as a dancer with Vertigo 2 Dance Company. He later moved to Europe and graduated with a degree in Choreography and Performance from SEAD Salzburg. Later, he went on to study choreography at SNDO in Amsterdam. He returned to Israel to perform at Cameri Theater in Tel Aviv as an assistant to Director/Choreographer Yehezkel Lazarov. In 2015, Assaf moved to New York and soon after joined the performing cast of the trail-blazing immersive show, Sleep No More by Punchdrunk. At the McKittrick Hotel, he wrote, directed, and choreographed Cabaret evenings under the McKittrick Follies. As a Director/Choreographer, Assaf has created more than ten works which have been presented in Israel, Europe, and New York. In his work, Assaf collaborates and performs with artists from the fields of Visual Arts, Music, and Theater. Most recently, Assaf’s work was presented at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City.

    Class Description:



    Through various exercises and guided explorations this class focuses on coordination skills and movement principles. The tools taught in this class could be applied to various movement disciplines; partnering, floorwork, ballet, and contemporary.  

    This class is designed for professional movers, though individuals with willingness to go through a process of movement refinement are welcome.
