    Biography:

Jesse Obremski (he/him), a native Japanese-American individual born and raised in New York, is an artist, educator, choreographer, director, singer, arts supporter, and advocate.

He started training at The Ailey School and later graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School (2012). In 2016, Obremski graduated from The Juilliard School, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has received additional training at The School at Jacob’s Pillow, and multiple years at The Ailey School, Earl Mosley’s Institute of the Arts (EMIA), and Springboard Danse Montréal. Obremski is an Eagle Scout Rank recipient (2010), a Father Fame Awardee (2012), the recipient of the 2016 Jadin Wong Dance Award, administered by the Asian American Arts Alliance, and a "Dancer to Watch" by Interview En L'air (2017), and Dance Magazine’s March 2019 Dancer “On The Rise”. He has been featured in Dance Mogul Magazine (2014), The Dance Enthusiast (2018, 2019), Dance Magazine (2019), The Juilliard Journal (2019), The Broadway World (2019), presented in The New York Times (2020), and featured in Terese Capucilli's film Lawrence ‘Reed’ Hansen: The Sacrosanct Accompanist. He is a lighting designer (notably for Gibney Company and Rena Butler’s dance film, Dream Scenarium, in 2020) and stage manager for multiple events and various arts organizations. Obremski founded and direct Obremski/Works, a contemporary dance company based in New York City, in 2018, and OUR PATHS, a Gibney Company Moving Toward Justice Fellowship addressing the cultivation of communal empathy, in 2020. Obremski is also a Board Member of Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance (since 2017) and is on Dance/NYC’s Junior Committee’s Executive Committee (2021-2022).
