Hip Hop // School at Peridance Faculty

Katie Oliver is a NYC based dancer, teacher, and choreographer from Queens, NY of Puerto Rican & Filipino descent. Her diverse background in dance began at the age of 3 at The DanceSource (Rego Park, NY) with Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz & Gymnastics. Katie was later accepted to Repertory Company HS for Theatre Arts as a dance major, where she trained extensively in several styles including Modern, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, African and Latin dance. Upon graduation, Katie received a dance scholarship to study as dance major at Dean College Dance Conservatory in Franklin, Massachusetts. Retuning home to NYC, Katie studied hip hop dance/culture with Ms. Robin Dunn at Hunter College. She later became a member of Keep Rising To The Top Dance Co. (KR3TS), a Spanish Harlem based street dance company, under the direction of Violeta Galagarza. It was there where Katie was able to fully immerse herself in street dance culture, taking classes from some of the most prominent street dance performers such as Kim Holmes, Brian Green, Ana Rokafella Garcia & Princess Lockeroo. Katie has taught hip hop and street dance workshops at Kansas State University and Connecticut College. As a member of Ladies Of Hip Hop Festival she has performed at Summer Stage NYC and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. As a member of the all female street dance company "Soulsations" she performed at the 2015 Breakin Convention at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NYC. Katie has also performed at Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, Webster Hall, and the Barclays Center.
