Jamie Salmon
Ballet // Certificate Program Faculty
Biography:
Ms. Salmon received her professional training as a youth with Dana Kennedy, Paul Mejia and Melissa Hayden before attending junior and high school at The North Carolina School of the Arts. Her interim training was sponsored and mentored by Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse at The School of American Ballet and Harkness Ballet and upon graduating, Ms. Salmon continued her formal training on full scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School and also studied with many NY greats such as Finis Jung and David Howard. Her professional career spanned years of performing classical and contemporary works in theatre, television, film, print and industrials.Ms. Salmon has been teaching and coaching dancers of all ages for over 25 years, novice through professional, and is currently on faculty at The Ailey School (Jr. Division), Broadway Dance Center and For Dancers Only, and has taught master classes and judged competitions throughout the U.S. for Dance Theatre USA, Dance Masters and CoDance, just to name a few.
You will find a plethora of students who have trained with Ms. Salmon attending the finest arts schools and universities such as Boston Conservatory, ABT, SAB, Julliard, Joffrey Ballet School, and also dancing in professional ballet and modern companies and on the Broadway stage.
Class Description:
Jamie Salmon's class is dedicated to the physical, mental and artistic development of the dancer and student whether novice or professional. Her passionate, 'hands on' approach with physical and verbal guidance in a nurturing, and positive environment where she draws from her professional training in the Cechetti, Russian, Balanchine and Bournonville techniques, brings out the finest qualities in each individual student.
