Sasha Soreff
Simonson Technique
Biography:
Sasha has taught modern, jazz, Simonson technique, anatomy and student performance workshops throughout New York and New England since 2000. She is on faculty at Gibney Dance and The International Partner Dancing Intensive, taught at Dance New Amsterdam from 1999-2013, and has served as a teaching assistant to anatomist Irene Dowd. She is Creative Director of Sasha Soreff Dance Theater (SSDT), which has been creating and presenting multigenerational, participatory work since 2002 at such venues as the Ailey Citigroup Theater, Dixon Place, The Queens Museum of Art, Long Island University, The JCC in Manhattan, and on WNET’s MetroArts Television Station. SSDT was artist in residence at University Settlement 2013-14 and set a piece on students at the Ailey school in the fall of 2014. She is currently collaborating with Roots&Branches Intergenerational Theater Company. She had the pleasure of dancing with Isabel Gotzkowsky and Friends from 1998-2004. A Maine native, Sasha attended North Carolina School of the Arts and Barnard College.
