Meet Katie!
Katharine Pettit is a NYC based Tap Dancer and teacher, Director/Choreographer. Most recently she served as Ms. Susan Stroman's SDC (Stage Directors and Choreographers) observer on BULLETS OVER BROADWAY. This experience shaped her work and cultivated an already present hunger for all Tap styles, to blend her studies from Classic Broadway Tap and Jazz to Musical Theater of the now which combines our perception of new age sounds with rhythm and soul.
She's studied under Derick Grant, Derek Roland, Andrew Black and Roxanne Butterfly to name a few of the major influences in her Tap education. Her choreography credits include The Gallery Players THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE and TOP OF THE HEAP, The Araca Project's HOT MESS IN MANHATTAN (assoc. choreo), Jim Rado and The Fundamental Theater Project’s SUPERSOLDIER which she associate directed as well as appeared as a performer, FringeNYC’s BARCODE (assoc. choreo), GARY THE INVINCIBLE (Dir./Choreo.) and is currently working on a number of different new works in development. Her belief in new musicals and new dance theater allows her creativity to thrive and know no limits!
