Bio:
Reed Luplau is currently a dancer for Lar Lubovitch Dance Company.
Born in Perth, Australia. Reed began training at his mother’s studio Jody Marshall Dance Company, studying Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Ballet and Musical Theatre. At the age of 15, Reed was accepted into the Australian Ballet School (ABS), where he continued his training. After graduating from the ABS in 2004, Reed was invited by then Artistic Director’s Graeme Murphy and Janet Vernon to join Sydney Dance Company. Other choreographer’s include Stephen Petronio, Meryl Tankard, Narelle Benjiman, Raphael Bonachela and Aszure Barton. In 2009 Reed won the 2009 Australian Dance Award for ‘Most Outstanding Male Dancer’ and as well as the 2009 Helpmann Award.
Since moving to NYC in 2010, Reed joined Stephen Petronio Company, Aszure Barton and recently Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. As well as working with choreographers AC Ciulla, Cherice Barton, Julie Bour and Jonah Bokaer.
Not only a dancer, Reed has choreographed two works for the Sydney Dance Company - ‘Misguided’ and ‘GO!’, The Australian Ballet - ‘Bleecker’, (Nominated for the Australian Dance Awards 2010). Sydney Opera House - ‘Music For Tutu’s’, WA Youth Ballet -‘Conquer’, and a new major piece ‘Transform’ for Quantum Leap 2 in Canberra, Australia. In July 2011, Reed created a new piece ‘The Sixth Borough’ for the West Australian Ballet’s ‘Neon Lights’ Season, which has been nominated for the 2012 Australian Dance Awards for ‘Outstanding Choreography’.
As an actor, Reed has appeared in the 2010 Nickelodeon’s Teen Nick Promo, Mao’s Last Dancer and most recently finished filming Alan Brown’s new film ‘Five Dances’, soon to be released in early 2013.
