    Greg Zane

    Ballet
    Advanced-Beginner Level
    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00pm - 8:30pm

Greg Zane has had a career in the performing arts as a dancer, actor, director, choreographer, and teacher. His credits include the 2005 National Tour of The King & I serving as the associate choreographer and dancing the principal role of Simon of LeGree. His association with that show goes back to dancing in the 1996 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival, and the 2000 West End/London revival, which led him to direct and/or choreograph several productions of The King & I. His directorial and/or choreographic credits also include Carousel, Annie, Peter Pan, Seussical, The Sound of Music, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Grease. Greg has danced professionally with the Alberta Ballet, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet, and Hawaii Ballet Theatre as a principal dancer. As a concert dancer, his repertoire ranged from the 19th-century classical roles to contemporary pieces. In addition to guest teaching at various dance academies across the US, he currently teaches ballet at Broadway Dance Center (NYC) and has also taught open classes at American Ballet Theatre.

Greg has worked with renowned teachers such as Diana Cartier (ABT), David Howard, Peter Schabel, Alaine Haubert (ABT), Eve Walstrum (Netherlands Dance Theatre), Tom Pazik (Atlanta School of Ballet), Danilo Radojovic (ABT), Laurence Blake, and Victoria Koenig. Greg’s approach to teaching has been informed by their teaching methods to stress body alignment, kinetic movement, musicality, and placement, in order to develop artistry. Greg’s students have included pre-professionals as well as professional dancers from companies such as ABT, Boston Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Royal Swedish Ballet, Ballet Hispanico, and Broadway professionals. Greg also teaches in Rosie O'Donnell's arts education organization in New York City public schools: Rosie's Broadway Kids.

    Class Description:
Greg Zane's advanced-beginning ballet class focuses on body alignment, placement, and furthering prior knowledge of ballet technique. While focusing on body awareness with emphasis on quality of movement, fluidity, and musicality, this class hopes to result in a more intelligent and versatile dancer.
