Peter Schabel
Ballet
Biography:
Peter Schabel received his professional training from
the Harkness School and the School of American Ballet. He
performed with such companies as the Los Angeles Ballet,
Bejart Ballet of the XXth Century, and the Boston
Repertory Ballet. He began his teaching career
directing the school of the Evansville Dance Theatre and has been
teaching in New York since 1983. Mr. Schabel has been a guest
teacher for Dance Masters of America, Professional Dance
Teachers Association, the Dance Teachers Club of Boston, and
others. In 1992, he was the first guest teacher and coach
brought in for the
Broadway production of Cats.
Class Description:
Ballet pedagogy is taught with an understanding of biomechanics, physics, and kinesiology to guide the student to full movement potential. Emphasis is placed on expanded classical vocabulary, posture, placement, timing, and concentration.
