    Bio

Kat Wildish is a high-caliber dance instructor, currently teaching multi-level ballet and pointe technique for children and adults. She trains teachers for the Dance Educators of America and her performing credits include New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater and numerous international companies. Kat is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Ford Foundation Scholarship, under which she attended the School of American Ballet. Her classes are very danceable, with a classic sense of line, musicality, placement, and style. The barre exercises are not just a warm-up series, but are anatomically sound and designed to improve the body. All parts of the dancer are exercised to promote harmony of movement according to each individual’s level of training and ability in a non-competitive atmosphere. Kat Wildish teaches an integrative, fundamental maintenance syllabus for all types of dancers. Kat Wildish is also an ABT® Certified Teacher of Primary through Level 7/Advanced and Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

    Pointe Class Description

If you’ve dreamed of those pink satin shoes, or you’d like to brush up on basics, here’s where to start, with a class that will consist largely of systematic and detailed barre work to improve alignment and build strength and flexibility. Those who already have shoes should bring them, but if you don’t, wait. Pointe can be risky if you lack sufficient strength; that's why Ms. Wildish will assess each student, experienced or not, to determine whether she is physically ready for pointe now, or should take class in soft ballet shoes for a while. In addition, she will advise on where to get a professional fitting and show the class the proper placement of ribbons and elastic.
