    Biography:

    Marlena Wolfe was born and raised in Warren, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts summa cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College in 2007. Upon graduation, Marlena danced for Robert Battle’s company, Battleworks, where she assisted Battle on numerous projects and the creations of seven critically-acclaimed works. She danced for Camille A. Brown & Dancers, where she was positioned rehearsal director and a member of the Bessie Award-winning cast and team for Best Production of Mr. Tol E. RAnce. Other performance credits include dancing the works of Twyla Tharp, Martha Graham, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Doug Varone, Tammy Colucci, Ann Marie D’Angelo, and Mimi Garrard. Marlena has worked as the Certificate Program and Summer Intensives Coordinator at the Peridance Center where many of her students went on to have professional careers with Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Ballet Hispanico, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Parsons Dance Company, The Dash Ensemble, the Metropolitan Opera, the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, among others. Her time at Peridance was also spent acting as Rehearsal Director for Peridance’s Certificate Program and studied the works of many notable choreographers, including Bryan Arias, Sidra Bell, Enzo Celli, Mary Ann Lamb, Charlotta Ofverholm, Manuel Vignoulle, and Igal Perry. Marlena has taught at such institutions as The Juilliard School, Marymount Manhattan College, Montclair State University, the Peridance Center, and the schools of American Ballet Theater and the Joffrey Ballet. Many of Marlena’s younger students have also went on to study and train in numerous colleges, universities, and conservatories, such as Boston Conservatory, Purchase, Marymount Manhattan College, and NYU Tisch to name a few.

    Marlena continues to teach and choreograph all over the world and is a sought after rehearsal assistant and director. Most recently, Marlena assisted Mauro di Candia on the restaging of his ballet, Meninos, at Staatliche Ballettschule in Berlin; assisted Robert Battle on his newest work for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater entitled, Awakening; choreographed for and collaborated on the production of the Opening Ceremony for the 2016 National Special Olympics at Gofferts Stadium in Nijmegen, The Netherlands; and created an original work, YOUnite, for Peridance Contemporary Dance Company’s 2017 New York Spring Season. In addition to having her own project-based company, the Wolfe project, she restages Robert Battle’s ballets, is an adjunct teacher at ArtEZ Vooropleiding Dans (Arnhem, The Netherlands), and is currently the Ballet Mistress at Introdans (Arnhem, The Netherlands), where she has been the rehearsal director for the works of Jiri Kylian, Robert Battle, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Karole Armitage, Mauro Bigonzetti, Mauro di Candia, Paul Lightfoot & Sol Leon, David Middendorp, Cayetano Soto, Regina van Berkel, Hans van Manen, and Didy Veldman. Her next project is co- choreographing an evening length work for Introdans’ 2018-2019 program, Vier Verhalen en een Dag, a collaboration between Introdans and the famous musician, composer, and poet, Spinvis, and his partner Saartje van Kamp.
