    Class Description
A 21st century dancer needs to be adaptive, fast, and diverse. This class introduces basic classical technique and also layers new ideas. I’m excited to discover new ways to move that include the use of space, directional changes, and parallel work. Students will find that proper parallel work improves their turn out. My class will build a foundation in ballet for those with a background in other forms of dance and for those new to dance altogether.

Creating a twist on classical ballet technique, my class will explore concepts that help create a well versed dancer. In traditional ballet, dancers always face the audience. In my class, I will add directional changes that allow students to explore all the space on the stage, opening many new possibilities. In barre and center work, we will add variations to traditional ballet combinations. In my class, I will introduce the use of retrograde, cannon, and accumulation to help create a versatile 21st century dancer.
