    Bio

Choreographer, master teacher, dancer, and humanitarian, Kristin Sudeikis is an involved member of both the national and international dance community. Equally active in the commercial, concert, and athletic aspects of dance, Kristin’s work is centered on human connection. Dance publications such as Dance Teacher Magazine have written extensively about Kristin’s methodology and choreography, affectionately naming her “the dance whisperer”. Recently, Kristin directed and choreographed for the launch of the FKA Twigs X NIKE collaboration in NYC.

Kristin’s choreography has recently been featured in Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes’, “No Love Like Yours” music video, in Bearson’s premiere music video, “Want You feat. Cali,” with NIKE International, at Brooklyn Academy of Music Fisher with The Brooklyn Dance Festival, at Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater with Voices and Visions, and as choreographer and host on Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, “Dance Move of the Day” with Spotify. Her work has ranged from speaking and facilitating master classes with the “Women in Dance” leadership conference, to teaching at the American Dance Festival and also teaching at the Sasha Women’s Shelter in Detroit to name a few.

She has produced, directed, and choreographed 5 original, sold out productions with her company, Kristin Sudeikis Dance, in NYC including her original production " the light Remains... " exploring the idea of possibility featuring dance, live music and spoken word. Her company has also gone on to perform in such cities as San Francisco and North Carolina. Kristin has choreographed with NY Fashion Week, Ivy Park, Adidas, SXSW, with The White House in 2016 with Barack & Michelle Obama's Easter Egg Roll, for Rooftop Films in NYC, and with various events for Lululemon. Her work in dance has also been highlighted on NBC, ABC with Dance Magazine.

With social activism as a constant influence, Kristin choreographed and produced STAND in 2011, 2012, and 2015 in conjunction with the GEMS organization and the Half the Sky Movement, to promote awareness of the human trafficking epidemic. Kristin’s choreography has also been presented at The Giving Tree Festival benefitting St. Jude’s Research Center, as guest artists at Young Choreographer’s Festival, and the Dumbo Dance Festival. Kristin Sudeikis Dance made its film premiere in March 2014, with an original dance film set to John Legend’s, “Made to Love”.

Whether on stage, on set, or in the studio, Kristin’s driving force is to allow the visceral impact of music, time, space, technique and ‘the other’ to unfold. Kristin encourages dancers to reach far beyond any limitations they may perceive themselves to have, “only then, can they tap into to becoming. Dance is a gift; equally an art and a discipline. Study hard. Take care of it."

When not at home in NYC, she continues to choreograph, direct, perform, and present master classes around the globe.

Kristin's company is in the midst of creating their second of a series of dance films and is also rehearsals for The Brooklyn Dance Festival.

    Notice your intersections.
    Move freely.
    Dance always." ~ kristin sudeikis

    Class Description

Kristin’s class is centered on the principle of moving from one’s center, dropping into the body and communicating from a place of honesty. Her warm-up—a blend of technique, yoga, and meditation— primes the body and mind for the physical challenge of her choreography and establishes the foundation for a conversation between the music, movement, and ‘audience’. The shading and dynamism in the physicality of her work promotes an awareness of both movement and the absence of movement, pushing her students to consider the literal and metaphorical power of silence. Kristin draws the intent of her phrase-work directly from the tone of the music, resulting in a sublime, and all-encompassing experience for the dancer. Her classroom is an environment of open experimentation, in which artistic risks and deliberate stylistic choices are encouraged.
