    Kristin Sudeikis

    Contemporary

    Biography:

Kristin Sudeikis is the creative force behind FORWARD__Space and contemporary dance company, Kristin Sudeikis Dance, warmly recognized for her choreography, creative direction and visionary leadership. Globally, her work's driving intention is blending music, time, space and the present moment to heighten an audience’s experience through physical storytelling while also empowering dancers to exceed any boundaries they may perceive to have. As Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director, Kristin's collaborations with renowned artists like Prada, Ben Harper, Tiffany & Co, Spotify, Alvin & Ailey's Voices & Visions, NIKE International, Emma Watson, Oprah, e.l.f. Beauty and Chanel all highlight her drive for an innovative fusion of dance, the human experience and physical design. Noteworthy is her debut of DROP, a sold out full evening’s work of dance, music and spoken word, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, produced by Tamia Santana-- a portion of the ticket's proceeds went to the ACLU. Kristin has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Oprah Magazine, Forbes, Dance Magazine and more highlighted for creating immersive movement experiences on diverse platforms that foster deep connections through the universal languages of music and dance— most recently leading dance at the United Nations with UNGEI in the Spring 2024. When home in NYC, Kristin teaches at FORWARD__Space, Broadway Dance Center and Peridance. When not in NYC, she has the honor of traveling globally, hosting master classes and dance experiences for major brands, companies, musicians, dance studios and colleges.

    Class Description:

Kristin’s class is centered on the principle of moving from one’s center, dropping into the body and communicating from a place of honesty. Her warm-up—a blend of technique, yoga, and meditation— primes the body and mind for the physical challenge of her choreography and establishes the foundation for a conversation between the music, movement, and ‘audience’. The shading and dynamism in the physicality of her work promotes an awareness of both movement and the absence of movement, pushing her students to consider the literal and metaphorical power of silence. Kristin draws the intent of her phrase-work directly from the tone of the music, resulting in a sublime, and all-encompassing experience for the dancer. Her classroom is an environment of open experimentation, in which artistic risks and deliberate stylistic choices are encouraged.
