     Rokafella

    Rokafella

    Classic Hip Hop

    Biography:

NYC born and raised La Roka, also known internationally as BGIRL ROKAFELLA for her Break dance mastery, performed as a teen in school productions and open mics. She began to perform at theatrical venues with Full Circle Prod and found her voice after successfully providing interludes for the dance pieces in their evening line up. La Roka is well rooted in Hip-hop and Afro Latin rhythms growing up in a time where so many genres are fused. She composed a Gospel version of Jimmy Castor's Just Begun adding to how she offers an empowering message in her music. Roka usually does a break dance freestyle if her audience requests, time permitting, so she reminds the world how Hip-hop still lives.

    Class Description:

Learn basic steps of the styles that make up the foundation of Hip hop Dance such as Popping, Locking, Breakin, Up Rockin and New Jack Swing. These are the classic styles that accompanied the music trends from Hip hop's emergence in the early 80's to the late mid 90's. Each class will introduce and review fundamental moves in at least two styles depending on student retention levels. Rokafella also infuses historical knowledge of the contributions made by the pioneers of the dance styles as the steps are being taught.

Please be ready to do floor moves and to get sweaty. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Knee pads are also recommended.
