    Biography:

Kimberly ‘Galaxxxy’ Tate is a multi-disciplinary artist and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Her multimodal practice integrates performance art, architecture, somatics, urban experimental dance, mindfulness, healing, social practice, permaculture and critical pedagogy to seek embodied liberation for all beings.

She builds context-specific dance labyrinths, DANCITECTURE, using architecture as a choreographic tool to invite movers to repattern their embodied knowledge of space and design, uncover memories stored in the body, and push the edges of their movement vocabulary in dialogue with the environment.

Current work explores embodied decolonization/cultural restoration for brown and especially Pilipinx bodies in the US, somatics and undoing racism (w/ Andrew Suseno of Parcon Resilience) and embodied practices for design as part- time assistant professor at Parsons School of Design and educator with the AIANY Center for Architecture.

Kimberly ‘Galaxxxy’ collaborates and performs regularly with the legendary Akim Funk Buddha as a member of the urban experimental dance Bonsai Lab. She has presented internationally and at BAM, Kennedy Center Millenium Stage, Insitu Site-Specific Dance Festival, The Highline, House Dance International, Gibney, Judson Church, Unity Palace Theater and many others.
