    Miles Keeney

    Miles Keeney

    Jazz Funk

    Biography:

Miles Keeney is a New York City based professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher. He's represented by MSA talent agency, and has worked commercially in both New York and Los Angeles. He currently is one of the most recognized young dance artists coming out of New York City. His credits include dancing for Adam Lambert, Ru Paul, Silentó, Samsung, Jason Derulo, and Calvin Chen, NFL, Dolby, In the Heights and Nordstrom. Choreographically he has worked in the context of the NBA Brooklynettes, Ru Paul's Drag Race Premiere, Lifeball Vienna, and several Universities throughout the U.S. and abroad. Miles currently is an adjunct professor at Pace University's Commercial Dance BFA program teaching street jazz to undergraduates. He graduated from Connecticut College with BA in Dance with a double major in Developmental Psychology. He's had the opportunity to train under the most revered names in the industry on both coasts and has been noted for his power, ferocity, and versatility. A powerhouse teacher, Miles teaches consistently in New York City as well as various studios across the country and world. He's developed a unique hip hop-jazz funk style that pulls from his training in hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and modern. His classes leave his students feeling like they have channeled their inner superstar and tapped into a higher level of performance quality. He has developed a large following on the east coast, where he teaches at Broadway Dance Center, Peridance Center, and Brickhouse NYC, as well as on the west coast where he is a guest faculty member at Edge Performing Arts Center. He has recently taught internationally in Singapore, Morocco, New Zealand, Greece, Thailand, Spain, and Canada. An experienced convention teacher with both NRG Dance Project and Artistic Dance Exchange, his classes are convention highlights and favorites among all who attend.

    Class Description:

In each class, Miles aims to bring out the absolute best in every student. He's developed a unique Jazz Funk genre that pulls from his training primarily in hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, and modern. His classes cover the full scope of commercial dance and give dancers the necessary tools to maintain their individuality while working in both the context of the choreography, and the industry. His classes focus on performance beyond the classroom and dancers visualizing themselves in their dream dance setting. Students leave class feeling like they have channeled their inner superstars and have tapped into a higher level of performance quality. Class begins with a thorough warmup with isolations, grooves, core work, and jazz-based drills. Then a combination is taught and broken down before ample time is left to execute and perform the choreography.
