Sharon Vazanna
Contemporary
Biography:
Founder of The Sharon Vazanna Dance Group, Sharon Vazanna is an independent choreographer & dancer. Her creations were invited to perform in the U.S, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Denmark.
Her creation Red Fields won the audience award at the 2013 MASDANZA Choreography Competition, The Canary Islands, Spain. In 2012 she won the Outstanding Dancer Award at the 5th Cross Connection Choreography Competition in Copenhagen for her performance of Rak2 by Idan Sharabi.
Vazanna has a M.A in Choreography from the Jerusalem Dance Academy. Graduate of the Rotterdam Dance Academy (B.A), Vazanna was a dancer at the Cullberg Ballet in Sweden and the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. She worked with the choreographers Johan Inger, Crystal Pite, Alexander Ekman, Mats Ek, Anouk Van Dijk, Rami Be'er, Idan Cohen, Idan Sharabi. She also performed creations by William Forsyth and Jaccobo Godani. Alongside her intensive work as a creator and a dancer, Vazanna is also a sought after teacher. Her engagements include, among others: The Jerusalem Dance Academy, The Maslool Professional Dance Program, Bikurei Haitim, Tel-Aviv. Sharon Vazanna was invited by the Israel Institute & the Schusterman Foundation to teach at Muhlenberg College, (PA, USA) in 2016.
