    Biography:

    After her main dance education in France at the Centre de Danse Classique Marika Besobrasova and the Centre de Danse International Rosella Hightower, followed by 2 years in North America at The Toronto Dance Theatre, The Martha Graham School and The Merce Cunningham Studio, Elisabeth Gibiat joined, as a soloist dancer, the following companies: Bat Dor Dance Company, Tel Aviv (Israel), performing works by Jiri Kylian, Hans Van Manen, Niels Christie, Choo San Goh, Alvin Ailey, Paul Taylor, Lar Lubovitch and the Kilina Crémona Roger Méguin Cie de Danse, Lyon (France) where she developed her knowledge of the Cunningham Technique.

    As a Guest Teacher since 1988, she has been teaching ballet and contemporary classes at professional dance schools (Montréal, Lyon, Geneva, Tel Aviv, Nice, Amsterdam) and at the following companies: Groupe Emile Dubois, Kibbutz Dance Company, Dance Company Nomades, Carte Blanche, Skånes Dansteater, Danish Dance Theatre, ICKamsterdam, Noord Nederlandse Dans, Project Sally, HJS Amsterdam, Bale da Cidade, Scapino Ballet…

    In August 1997, invited by Artistic Director Iracity Cardoso, Elisabeth Gibiat joined the Ballet Gulbenkian as Rehearsal Director and Ballet Master.

    In Lisbon, she met Itzik Galili, Artistic Director of the NND/Galili Dance and guest choreographer at the Ballet Gulbenkian, and was invited to join him in 2001 as Assistant Artistic Director of the NND/Galili Dance, and in 2009 of the Dansgroep Amsterdam, to create and implement his artistic vision.

    As a Ballet Master, Elisabeth has been teaching company classes (ballet and contemporary) and as Rehearsal Director was responsible for Itzik Galili’s work and for the works by the following guest choreographers: Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, Rui Horta, Ohad Naharin, Angelin Preljocaj, Stijn Celis, Tero Saarinen, Meryl Tankard, Né Barros, Mark Baldwin…

    As Co-Artistic Director since 2011, Elisabeth Gibiat has been resetting Itzik Galili’s works and assisting him in his creations with the following companies:English National Ballet, Israel Ballet, Ballet de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux, Quorum Ballet, West Australian Ballet, Compañia Nacional De Danza de México, Metropolitan Opera, Roberto Bolle, Bale da Cidade…
