Dates: Two-Week Session from July 30th - August 10th, 2018
Time: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Ages: 11 - 13 years (audition required for acceptance)

About the Program

The School at Peridance's Core Intensive is an exciting program designed for the dedicated dancer who is ready to step up their technique! Over the course of this two-week program, Intensive students take a Core Curriculum of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Yoga/Pilates and Turns & Leaps. Additionally, all Intensive students study principles of improvisation and choreography to create their own creative composition pieces as a team. The Intensive will conclude with a studio performance to showcase the dancers' own choreographic creations, artistry, and technique! While dancers attend this program from around the world, please note there is no provided or affiliated housing.

Other Notes

To further specialize their study, students choose between two tracks of the Intensive: Ballet Focus and Multi Technique Focus. They then select their Ballet or Multi Technique electives in addition to their Core Curriculum classes to personalize their own summer training. For the Ballet Focus students, additional classes in Classical Variations and Character Dance/Ballet History are offered. For the Multi Technique Focus students, Hip Hop and Theater Dance are offered. Details about these class electives will be sent to accepted students 1-2 months prior to the start of the Intensive at which time they can confirm their elective choices.

Accepted students will be able to work with the world-renowned Pre Professional & School Faculty of Peridance Capezio Center and The School at Peridance. 2018 Intensive Faculty will be announced shortly. Last year's 2017 Intensive Faculty included:

Prerequisites & Placement

At least three years of prior dance technique including Ballet is required for students joining this program. While prior training in all of the Core Curriculum techniques is not required, a strong technical base and ballet background is needed. Based on their prior experience and audition class, students are placed into separate class levels for all Core Curriculum classes. Class levels will be announced at the start of the program and confirmed after the first day of study. If you have any questions regarding your child's eligibility for the program, please call Peridance to speak with the program coordinator.

Auditions

An audition is required for acceptance and placement in this program. Interested students may audition via an audition class at Peridance or video submission as detailed below. The placement audition will consist of a one-hour Ballet technique class to show barre and center work and a 30-minute Modern or Jazz class to show choreography. No solo or variation is required. If you live outside of the Tri-State area or abroad and are unable to attend any auditions, you may submit a video with your application. Video Application Deadline is June 1st, 2018.
