The program’s structure allows students, according to their age and level, to determine the frequency and diversity of their after-school training. Classes are offered in various levels, from beginner to advance.

The PeriTeen Program offers classes in various disciplines:

Ballet
Focus is on proper Ballet technique, strength, flexibility and body alignment. Additional attention is given to musicality, movement quality and anatomically correct work.

Modern
Classes integrate various traditional disciplines of modern dance founders such as Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and Jose Limon with current contemporary styles. These classes are for dancers who like physical complicated floor work, patterns of movement and self-expression. Elements of improvisation are also introduced.

Jazz
Students learn traditional Jazz vocabulary in a fun and engaging class. Through learning combinations and choreography, including jumps, turns and various energetic leaps, students explore various musicality and syncopation skills. Previous Ballet technique is recommended.

Musical Theater
A combination of acting, singing and dancing prepare students for a specific character role in a theater dance performance. In addition to learning voice and choreography, students develop their character work and performance skills.

Hip Hop
These classes offer a variety of Hip-Hop styles like Popping, Locking and Break Dancing. The class will help build confidence and performance presentation in the students along with giving them some opportunities to create and explore their own unique and natural style.

Tap
Class focuses on traditional Broadway-style Tap fundamentals alongside new, contemporary Rhythm-Tap styles. This great combination of percussive footwork and stylized upper body movement enhance students overall stage presence.

African
Traditional African dance is an important expressive dance form that reinforces life of the community. These energetic and vibrant classes inspire young people and help them gain discipline, confidence and unity through the power of the arts.

Salsa
Classes are offered in collaboration with Baila Society (BAso) faculty and include footwork, partner-work, styling/spinning, performance technique as well as stretching and conditioning. Training exercises used in every class are drawn from fundamental dance techniques such as Ballet, Jazz, Ballroom and Hip-Hop.

Choreography
This special class was created for innovative students interested in learning the skill of putting steps together and creating choreography. Students work in small, intimate groups while learning to properly use choreographic structures, space, levels, themes, musicality and much more. Their final artistic choreography is presented at Peridance’s end-of-the-year Annual Concert.
